Yaz and Yasmin Legal Information

Have you or someone you know Tried Yaz or Yasmin?

Many women all across the United States and in Tennessee have used birth control pills to prevent pregnancy, reduce cramping and moodiness, and even to get lighter and shorter menstrual cycles. However, some birth control pills can result in serious blood clots and end up resulting in heart attacks, strokes, and in the most severe cases death. Yaz and Yasmin are some of these birth control pills. If you or someone you know has taken Yaz or Yasmin, which was produced by Bayer Health Care Pharmaceuticals, and have had some of these harmful side effects or have concerns about them, you should speak with a Tennessee defective product and dangerous drug lawyer as soon as possible. We can help you get the treatment and compensation you are entitled to for what you have been through.

What additional information is there about Yaz and Yasmin?

Yaz and Yasmin were prescribed to women to help prevent pregnancy as well as help treat a condition called premenstrual dysphoric disorder which can cause severe moodiness, cramps, trouble concentrating, severe irritability and other serious physical and emotional concerns. Yaz also has drospirenone in it, which can cause increased potassium levels. Increased potassium levels can result in problems such as ones pertaining to the gallbladder. The Bayer Company was encouraged to notify people of these issues in 2008 and they added labels to the boxes concerning high potassium levels and limited contraceptive effectiveness when used in combination with other medicines.

Some of the side effects of these birth control pills include but are not limited to:

  • Heart attacks and strokes
  • Deep vein thrombosis
  • Pulmonary embolism
  • Gallbladder problems

These birth control pills also have dangerous side effects when taken with other medicines such as ones for pain and inflammation as well as potassium supplements and blood thinners.

What can I do if I have suffered from these side effects after taking Yaz or Yasmin?

If you used Yaz or Yasmin as your birth control pill and then suffered with harmful and serious side effects, you may be entitled to compensation and should contact one of our experienced and caring Tennessee Yaz attorneys or Tennessee Yasmin Lawyer at the Higgins Firm. We will listen to your case and work with you to see that you get the compensation that you need for your medical expenses and your pain and suffering.

JULY 2012:

Currently about 11,000 Yaz lawsuits have been filed. Recently Bayer Pharmaceuticals announced an agreement to pay $142 million to settle more than 600 Yaz cases so far. These Yaz settlements began in April of 2012. The average settlement may be in the range of $220,000.00. Obviously, the settlements will vary depending on the extent of the injury suffered by the consumer. Many of our Tennessee and Nashville Yaz clients have suffered injuries including strokes, blood clots and pulmonary embolisms. We believe that Yaz caused or contributed to many of these injuries.
