The Higgins Firm was created to serve all the law needs of the residents in Memphis, Tennessee and across the country. We focus our efforts in the areas of civil litigation, workers compensation, medical malpractice, products liability and nursing home neglect and abuse. The partners of this team are Jim Higgins and Rick Piliponis. We have several associates as well that assist in working these cases to get the best results. We all work together to make sure that we can serve our clients in the best manner possible. Here at the firm, we ask questions about our clients, but we believe that is important that our clients know about us and what we stand for.
Jim Higgins graduated from University of Memphis College of Law and oversees the serious injury and wrongful death litigation within the firm. He is the partner that handles cases in these areas of practice. This section may include: workers compensation, medical malpractice, nursing home abuse, vehicular accidents, and premises liability cases. He began his career in law by helping to defend insurance companies, but quickly realized that work to be unrewarding and has dedicated his career over the past several years to only representing those that have been injured. Mr. Higgins works with many experienced attorneys to help him best represent clients that have been injured. Mr. Higgins has also joined organizations such as the Million Dollar Advocates Forum which limits its membership to attorneys who have won million and multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements to help better serve their clients. He not only represents clients where he lives, but all across the United States. He is admitted to the bar in Tennessee and Georgia.
Does the Firm offer any special services to those clients that may speak another language?
The answer is yes. We believe that every client is important and deserves the chance to be heard even if they do not speak English. For this reason, we have partnered with an attorney fluent in Spanish for these clients and their families.
William W. Merrell graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1964. He then graduated from the South Texas College of Law in Houston in 1974. He is a vital part of the firm and is known to many Hispanic clients as "El Abogado del Pueblo". He has worked very hard to help represent our Hispanic and Latino Community with cases including: workers compensation, auto liability as well as criminal law. He is admitted to the bar in both Tennessee and Texas.
